I have now been here a little over a week and I am beginning to feel settled. I have been quite surprised at how long it has taken me to adjust to the new time zone. I think I am tired and then I figured g myself wide awake when I get in bed.
I have a new Nokia - Windows - phone exchange and as soon as I figure out how to send the pictures from it to my tablet I will start posting pictures.
The sisters with whom I am living are very nice and have been quite helpful in my adjustment. My Italian language skills leave a great deal to be desired but they are patient and besides most of them speak English very well. We pray Office each day in Italian and because I know the psalms, I find that I am able to follow. Most evenings I watch a game show on television and I am surprised how many words I am able to infer from the context. My formal Italian classes will start in the beginning of March.
There are two highlights of the week which I wish to share and they really could not be more opposite. The first is that yesterday I got to go to METRO or as the other Americans call it "the Costco equivalent" ☺ - yea for my nephew and niece, Pat and Patsy Fahey - and it is like Costco. It is one of the few places where you can buy peanut butter and Nutella!
The took place this morning. Several of us went to a special mass for the day dedicated to anti-human trafficking. It was quite powerful because the participants were from all continents. Following the mass we went toSt. Peter's Square where at noon on Sundays the Pope comes to thewindow, gives a short address and leads the Angelus. I was really moved hearing his voice come over the PA and while he was little more than a spec in the window I could see him. At the end when he asked the crowd to pray for him many people were in tears and I found myself choking up
More highlights and stories to come. Please pray for me as I do for you.
Love,
Patricia
